Avoyelles judge won't seek third term

12th Judicial District of Avoyelles Judge Mark Jeansonne has announced his decision to not seek re-election next fall.
He is currently serving the last year of his second six-year term. He was first elected in 2002.
He cited his desire to go back into private practice. He is 50 years of age.
The seat is one of two district judgships in Avoyelles. The other seat is held by Judge William Bennett who has indicated he will seek re-election.
