Bobcats grab two key district wins

CROWLEY – The Eunice High Bobcats rallied with four runs in the top of the seventh, then held off a rally attempt by the Crowley High Gents to claim a 6-5 victory here Tuesday night at Miller Stadium.
Coach Scott Phillips’ Bobcats improved their overall record to 21-7 with the victory.
In District 4-4A play, the Bobcats moved to 9-2 with one game remaining against the Beau Chene Gators at Bobcat Field today at 6 p.m.
The Gents fell to 16-11 overall and finished district play with a 9-3 record.
The Bobcats scored a run in the second inning for the early lead on a single by Jake Sonnier and a double by A. P. Sonnier.
But the Gents scored three runs in the third for a 3-1 lead. MacKay Mouton had a two-run double and Kaleb Istre a run-scoring single in the inning.
The Cats cut the lead to 3-2 in the fourth as Jake Sonnier singled and Kalum Fruge doubled him home.
But the Gents got that run back in the sixth with the help of a Mouton double.
With one out in the seventh, the Bobcats began to rally. Bihn and Jordan Comeaux had singles before Wes Hebert doubled home a run. Jake Sonnier followed with a run-scoring single.
A. P. Sonnier then singled home two runs to put the Cats up 6-4.
Bobcat starting pitcher Caleb Taylor (7-1) got two outs in the inning, but left the game with two runners on base.
Bihm relieved Taylor and gave up an infield hit to Mouton to load the bases. But Bihm earned his second safe of the season by striking out Istre to end the game.
On Saturday at Jennings High, the Bobcats survived a 12-inning contest to take an 11-10 victory.
The game went into extra innings tied at 10-10, but the Cats would earn the win in the top of the 12th when Scott Lafleur singled and advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Brennan Ashley. Lafleur advanced to third base on a single by Gunner Fontenot and scored on a Scotty Bihm single to put the Cats on top.
Bihm, who pitched seven innings in relief, allowed a single to Mark Hollier to open the bottom of the inning but retired the next three batters to secure the victory.
Bihm, now 5-3 for the season, scattered eight hits, three earned runs.
He struck out six and did not issue a walk.
Bihm relieved Caleb Taylor in the sixth inning. Taylor had relieved starter Kalum Fruge in the third inning.
The Bulldogs held a 3-0 lead until the Cats cut into the lead with two runs in the fifth on a single by Ashley, a run-scoring double by Andrew Lomas, and a wild pitch. A double by A.P. Sonnier, a three-run triple by Lomas, and a two-run single by Jordon Comeaux in the sixth allowed the Cats to build a 7-3 lead.
But the Bulldogs scored four runs in the sixth to tie the game. After neither team scored in the seventh, the game went into extra innings.
In the eighth, the Bobcats scored three runs, highlighted by RBI triples by Lomas and Comeaux, but the Bulldogs countered with three of runs of their own to tie the game at 10-10.
Neither team could push across a run over the next three innings until the Cats scored in the twelfth inning .
The Bobcats will host DeRidder on Friday in their next action, with Friday being Senior Night.
