Corvette driver dies when F350 drives over the car

A Crowley man is dead, and another driver injured following a crash on LA Highway 342 near Brumley Road on Monday night.
According to State Police, shortly after 6:00 p.m., 33-year-old Joshua Ware of Lafayette was driving a 2012 F350 truck east on LA 342 and struck the rear of a 2001Corvette operated by Phillip Meaux, 49, of Crowley.
At impact, the Corvette was pushed forward and struck a 2009 Altima, operated by Jessica Peltier, 37, of Lafayette. The truck continued to move forward and traveled over the Corvette and onto the roof of the Nissan Altima. The truck rolled onto its left side, slid forward, and struck a 2004 Ford Focus operated by Madison Dugas, 17, of Duson.
Troopers determined the Ford Focus, Nissan Altima and Chevrolet Corvette were slowing down due to a vehicle making a left turn at the intersection of LA Highway 342 and Brumley Road.
All drivers in the crash were wearing their seat belts, however; Meaux was pronounced dead on scene by the Lafayette Parish Coroner’s Office. Jessica Peltier sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. The drivers involved in the crash were tested and showed no impairment. Routine toxicology samples were taken from Meaux and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
Joshua Ware was cited for following too close.
This crash remains under investigation.
