By Tom Dodge

For a moment it appeared the Lady Bulldogs wanted to spoil Eunice High’s Senior Night as Ville Platte jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
But the Lady Bobcats (7-10 overall, 6-4 in District 5-3A) responded with 15-straight runs to grab a mercy-rule win Thursday.

“Mia is a great athlete that can play catcher and outfield,” head coach Therese Gianfala said. “She has done amazing and is a great leader.
“Darian missed some of the season last year but played all four years for us,” the coach said. “She has always been a strong infielder and taught the younger girls.
“Lanie returned to the team after a couple of years and she has some pitching experience,” Gianfala said. “She hasn’t seen a lot of playing time but she is a great encourager in the dugout.”
The Lady Dogs took a 1-0 lead when Ville Platte’s Kirsten Bolfa was hit by a pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Logan Frank.
Whitney Ledoux singled, Payton Vidrine reached on a fielder’s choice and both scored on a passed balls to give the Lady Dogs a 3-0 advantatge.
Eunice closed the gap to 3-1 in the bottom of the inning when Rougeau walked and later scored when Katelyn Joubert drew a bases loaded walk.
The Lady Cats exploded for six runs in the second inning to grab the lead.
Eunice’s Lanie Fontenot and Natalie Vidrine both walked and scored on a throwing error.
Darian Fontenot and Madison Cormier both bunted and Rougeau was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Amber Arvie then blasted a hit to left field and then raced around the bases for an inside the park home run as the Lady Cats moved ahead, 6-1.
Eunice added six more runs in the bottom of the third to grab a 13-3 advantage.
Vidrine bunted, advanced on a passed ball and scored when Darian Fontenot reached on an error.
Fontenot then scored on Cormier’s bunt for a 9-3 lead.
Rougeau was hit by a pitch and Arvie followed with a two-run double.
Arvie scored when Joubert reached on a bunt and errant throw.
Lanie Fontenot then doubled in Joubert as the Lady Cats forged ahead by 10 runs.
Eunice added two more runs in the fourth inning as Cormier singled, Arvie was hit by a pitch and both scored on double by Cassie Thomas.
