Vocational educator

LAFAYETTE  – Services for vocational educatior Thomas Derveloy will be Saturday. He died Oct. 23 at age 95.
He was a retired public school administrator and former assistant state superintendent of education for vocational education.
Survivors include three daughters and two step-children.
Arrangements are by Martin & Castille.

Republican activist

NEW ORLEANS – Services for Republican activist Brian Avenel will be Saturday. He drowned while scuba diving in Hawaii on Oct. 17, the day before his scheduled marriage. He was 72.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and Republican Committee chairman for St. Bernard Parish. He was retired from Lockheed Corp.
Survivors include a son.
