Piggly Wiggly operator
LAFAYETTE – Services for grocer Marc Mayeux will be Saturday. He died Nov. 21 at age 79.
He opened a T.G.&Y. store in Northgate Mall before entering the grocery business and becoming co-owner of many of the Piggly Wiggly stores in Acadiana. He was a former president of the La. Grocer’s Assn. and member of the board of the La. Retailers Assn. He was also former president of the National Piggly Wiggly Operators Assn.
Survivors include two daughters.
Arrangements are by Martin & Castille.
Principal, coach
MONROE – Services for retired educator Dr. Jack E. Smith will be Saturday in Montgomery. He died Nov. 20 at age 81.
He was former principal of Neville High School and a former teacher and coach at Montgomery High and Verda High.
Survivors include his wife Geneva, a son and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Southern, Winnfield.
