Same-sex marriage

In the wake of the Supreme Court’s legalization of same-sex marriage, the Louisiana Justice of the Peace and Constable’s Association is awaiting an opinion from the state Attorney General’s Office on whether justices must perform marriages.

Purchasing a same-sex marriage license may be easier for same-sex couples than finding a religious house to marry in, and so far, one of the only religious denominations willing to marry these couples will be the Episcopal Church, according to Bishop Morris Thompson Jr.
