By John Burson

The Eunice Bobcats took an early lead and never surrendered it on their way to a 14-4 victory over the St. Edmund Blue Jays in Metro League baseball action Thursday night at Bobcat Field.
The Bobcats opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Austin Phillips reached base due to an error and Gunner Fontenot singled off Jays’ pitcher Phillip Fontenot.
A throwing error scored Phillips before Austin Manuel followed with a single and Zac Guillory doubled to score both runners for a 3-0 lead.

His teammates rewarded him with four runs in the bottom of the second inning for a 7-0 lead.
Four walks and a hit batsman greatly aided the Bobcat offense.

The Jays got that run back in the top of the fourth on singles by Austin Gradney and Lance Miller along with a throwing error by the Cats.
The Cats responded in the bottom of the inning on a single by Fontenot, a triple by Tyler Darbonne, and a groundout to build a 10-2 advantage.
