Crusaders rally past Blue Jays

The Westminster Christian Academy Crusaders scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to grab a 4-3 win over St. Edmund Monday in Acadiana Metro League action.
Trailing 4-3 heading into the inning, the Crusaders took advantage of an error and two walks to grab the lead.
Jacob Johnson reached on an error, while Jody Boone and Zach Thomas both walked to load the bases.
Jody Manuel’s RBI double scored the crucial runs and then the WCA pitcher retired the Blue Jays in order to seal the win.
The Crusaders jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first begun when Charlie Kovach walked and scored as Shelby Myers reached on an error.
Myers later scored on a wild pitch for the Crusaders.
The Blue Jays closed the gap to 2-1 in the bottom of the frame when William Chachere walked and scored on a sacrifice by Phillippe Agulliard.
Cole Bergeron reached base in the bottom of the second and scored on a throwing error to force a 2-2 tie.
Blue Jay starting pitcher Gibson LaFleur walked in the bottom of the third and courtesy runner J.P. Ward then stole three consecutive bases to give St. Edmund a 3-2 advantage.
Bergeron singled in the bottom of the fourth and scored on a sacrifice by Mike Zaunbrecher to push the Jays ahead, 4-2.
WCA closed the gap to 4-3 in the top of the sixth when Manuel walked and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Myers.
WCA pitchers walked nine batters with four strikeouts but limited the Blue Jays to four hits and St. Edmund stranded seven runners.
Blue Jay pitchers LaFleur, Will Chachere, Drake Brunet and Jack Brown allowed just three hits with five walks and four strikeouts.
St. Edmund will close the summer league play next week as the Blue Jays host Sacred Heart of Ville Platte on Monday before a trip to Crowley on Wednesday.
