Animal cruelty charge added to arson count

A charge of cruelty to animals was added to a simple arson charge against a Bayou Vista woman accused in connection with a fire that occurred Friday.
Robyn Blanc, 29, of the 1300 block of Middle Road was arrested at 12:54 p.m. Friday at the Morgan City Police Department on a warrant for cruelty to animals, a news release from St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said.
During an ongoing investigation into arson on Middle Road, a detective learned that a small dog perished in the fire set by Blanc, Hebert said.
Blanc was accused of starting the blaze when she set her boyfriend’s clothes on fire.
