Men posing as police take money from residential safe

Zachary Police are currently on the hunt for two men who impersonated Baton Rouge Police Department officers and stole money from a woman’s home.
The woman, who lives in the Live Oak Trace subdivision off Hwy. 64 in Zachary, was robbed Wednesday night, said Police Chief David McDavid.
The woman wishes to remain unidentified but says she believed the two men were who they claimed to be, officers of the law.
McDavid says the men were allegedly dressed in police uniforms and had a piece of paper claiming to be a search warrant.
The homeowner cooperated, letting the imposters in, and they began a search of the woman’s home.
McDavid says the robbers found a safe and stole an undisclosed amount of money.
Zachary Police David McDavid says residents should be on high alert. “I would double check before I open that door,” McDavid says. “Call the ZPD office to make sure it’s of our officers or have us come out to check whether the individuals asking to come in are indeed officers of the law before you let anyone in.”
Police have not released a description of the suspects.
