Local teachers, firefighters and law enforcement officers were among those honored at the VFW Post 8971 hosts award banquet Monday night.
About 100 people attended the event, and those at the event also celebrated the post’s 65th birthday.

Russell Devillier has been named manager of Tri-Parish Bank’s new drive-in facility at 3rd & Laurel. He succeeds James Ardoin, who left to become president of Vernon Bank of Leesville.
The VFW Post 8971 members and the Boy Scouts Troop 425 honored MA1 Pamela Veillon on April 28 on her retirement date by raising and flying her personal United States flag and Louisiana flag. Veillons’ wishes were to have flags flown in Eunice on her retirement date. Veillon served 29 years in the Navy.
