Recent heavy rains have caused widespread flooding in areas of Cleco’s service territory. Cleco reminds all customers that flooded homes can present a potential danger and caution is warranted.
A flood-damaged home requires special attention to avoid further damage and health hazards from molds, other fungi, algae and bacteria.
On Sunday, the St. Landry-Evangeline United Way has listed needs for the Opelousas Civic Center shelter.
Needs are:
Cots or air mattresses (with pump)
Bedding
Pillows
Towels/wash cloths
Toiletries (soap, toothbrushes, deodorant, etc)
The St. Landry Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is asking parish residents who experienced damage from flooding to their residence Aug. 12 to 14 to report the damage to St. Landry Parish Government at 337-948-3688 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
