10:49 Caller said white Dodge Charger on La. 13 passed the Mowata Store traveling at a high rate of speed. Subject is stopped in the middle of the road with his head back.

Belgian couple discover Cajun Mardi Gras

A Belgian couple learned about a traditional Mardi Gras at the Experience Louisiana Festival and plan to return in February for the Eunice celebration.

Eunice police officer honored

Family members of Elmo Quirk, the only police officer ever killed in the line of duty in Eunice, gathered at Eunice City Hall Wednesday for a flag presentation and raising. Quirk was killed by a drunken driver Jan. 4 1965. The flag was donated by Concerns of Police Survivors and will be given to the family later this week. Fontenot transitions from council to mayor

Scott Fontenot, named interim Eunice mayor, said it has been a smooth transition switching from his council seat to the top job at City Hall.
“I’m not going to do anything major,” he said Thursday at a Eunice Kiwanis Club meeting. “I am going to run for mayor in March.”

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
