After six days on the run, Opelousas murder suspect Kiara “Green Eyes” Rideau, 26, was arrested in Dallas, Texas, Capt. Clay Higgins of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.
The St. Landry Pairsh Council Public Works and Aministrative Finance committees are scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Old City Market, 131 W. Bellevue St., Opelousas.
The Public Works committee is to meet first.

The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s jobs portal, HiRE (Helping Individuals Reach Employment), will be taken offline at 5 p.m. Wednesday for a major upgrade. The system will remain down until Nov. 9 at the latest, a news release stated.

Layoffs in the oil and gas industry have increased the number of patients at the Eunice Community Health Center, and the center will hold a fundraiser Nov. 12 at Ruby’s Courtyard.

Full-time St. Landry Parish School Board employees may get a $1,000 Christmas bonus this year, which is the same as they received in 2014.
The Board’s Finance Committee ended up a meeting Monday with a $1,000 bonus under the tree about 1,950 full-time employees.
The Eunice mayor and Board of Aldermen are to meet in special session at 9 a.m. Tuesday at City Hall to appoint a Ward 4 alderman.
The Ward 4 seat became open when Scott Fontenot resigned to become interim mayor.
Eunice High School received a “C” on its 2014-2015 Louisiana Department of Education school report card released Thursday.
The top report card in St. Landry Parish went to Port Barre High School, which earned a “B.”

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
