The St. Landry Parish School Board meeting has been rescheduled to 4 p.m. Monday because of the weather.
The board meeting had been scheduled at 4 p.m. Thursday.
The area has been hit with rain, sleet and scattered reports of snow Thursday.

As the St. Landry Parish School Board executive committee met Monday to discuss whether to begin its meetings at 1 p.m. or continue a 4 p.m. start time, some of the concerns voiced were about public participation.
But there was a problem.

Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot renewed his call for Eunice residents to be on guard as a string of breakins, a home invasion and beating have occurred this week.
“Lock your vehicles,” Fontenot said.

The celebration at the 30th annual “Here’s the Beef Cook-off” was entirely appropriate as the beef industry enjoys good times.

Cattle prices should remain strong for 2015, after a brief dip during the past two months, according to an LSU AgCenter beef cattle economist.
“Auction barn prices have been down but they’ve rebounded over the past couple of weeks,” said LSU AgCenter economist Ross Pruitt.
Dupre Farms won best dressed team, best decorated booth, first-place ground meat, second-place tongue, and first-place Brisket.

The 30th annual St. Landry Parish Here’s the Beef Cook-off was held Sunday at the Ag Arena in Opelousas.
Grand champion overall winner was Team Mowata, Chef Bryon Zaunbrecher, with his first place Gourmet.

07:43 Traffic stop, 9th and Oak. 07:45 Animal complaint, 300 block of Beulah.
Suspects to home invasion and burglary in the 400 block of Acadia Street in Eunice left a trail of drugs to a vehicle, a Eunice Police Department radio logs states.
The report also stated several shots were fired.
Police Chief Randy Fontenot is urging residents to lock their vehicle doors after at least four vehicle burglaries were investigated overnight.
The full tally of vehicle break-ins was not by Tuesday morning, Fontenot said. The chief expects more reports today.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
