Police Chief Ronald Dies, who lost his bid for re-election on Nov. 4, will leave his successor with a ruling from the state attorney general that reinforces the chief’s independence of other city agencies.

Becky Sonnier has been selected Eunice High Teacher of the Year.
She is a member of Eunice High School class of 1987, and is a 22-year veteran of teaching mathematics.

Marc Ehrhardt admittedly was preaching to the choir when he talked to the Rotary Club on Wednesday about the economic importance of the state’s oil and gas industry, but it served as a reminder that there are heretics out there.
The second-degree murder trial of a Eunice man accused of killing an infant has again been put off, this time until March 2015.
The new trial date is more than two years after Robert H. Miller, III allegedly killed 19-month-old Victoria Renee LeJeune.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
