City wants new tax plan

The Eunice City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday night to consider a resolution that would call for a May 3 election to re-dedicate the city of Eunice’s 1-percent capital improvement sales tax, in the process changing the allocation formula.

Evangeline arrests

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported seven recent bookings into the parish jail.
Arrested were the following persons:
•Dewayne A. Thomas, 23, 817 Cypress St., Mamou, was charged January 2, with domestic abuse battery. Thomas was released from jail on a $5,000 bond.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
