United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced that Brandon Handy, 33, of Opelousas, was found guilty by a federal jury on Tuesday of assaulting and robbing a postal employee. United States District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote presided over the trial.

Eunice Police Department officials said that officers responded to a residence after receiving a report of a stolen credit card and checks.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
