Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot is asking people to stay off roads Saturday.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development released the following road status report in Acadiana at 8:34 a.m. Saturday.

Widespread flooding is being reported in the Eunice area Saturday morning.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said boat rescues have occurred in what he called the worst flooding he has seen in 34 years.
Due to widespread flooding, delivery of The Eunice News' Sunday edition is now planned for Sunday.
The newspaper’s Sunday edition is normally printed and delivered on Saturday, but printing is planned on Sunday.
With heavy down pours of rain and possible flooding in the forecast today, Eunice city barn workers are hard at work filling sand bags that are made available for Eunice residents. Left, Paul Carrier, and Gerald Leger loaded bags for a Eunice resident. Sandbags are available today until 5 p.m.
City of Eunice will offer sandbags to Eunice residents at the City Barn located on S. Bobcat Drive.

Claire Stearns of Eunice, has been named to the University of Dallas Dean’s List for the spring 2016 semester for earning a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher. Stearns is majoring in Economics and Finance.

Mary Werner, candidate for the Public Service Commission in District 4 in the upcoming election, visited the Crowley Summit Group at the Rice Palace on July 30. She discussed the duties and responsibilities of the Public Service Commission.
