St. Landry Parish School Board President and Attorney Josie Frank recently volunteered several hours at East Elementary as part of an initiative in which she encouraged board members, business owners and parents to share quality time with students through volunteerism.

This week’s Student of the Week is Leah Walker, a sixth-grader at Central Middle School. Her parents are Tawania Gallow and Rob Walker.

Tonia Bertrand was recently recognized as St. Francis School’s “Supporter of the Year” for the 2013-2014 school term.
Bertrand has been working with students and providing music at the weekly school masses for the past eight years.

Aline Hebert was named St. Francis School’s “Teacher of the Year” for the 2013-2014 school term. She has been described by her peers as an amazing, caring, and kind person. Her students enjoy their time with her, as she is always willing and ready to take on the day’s challenge.

Graduation is right around the corner and much is needed ahead of time for the newspaper’s special graduation edition.
