Gov. John Bel Edwards announced that he signed the following bills into law on Wednesday.
ACT 33 – HB 28: Establishes legal holiday in Grant Parish.
ACT 34 – HB 31: Establishes legal holiday in Union Parish.
May public prayer at St. Anthony’s
During the month of May a rosary and Divine Mercy chaplet will be prayed daily at 5:30 p.m. at the shrine of the Blessed Mother in front of Saint Anthony’s rectory.
The public is encouraged to participate.

Drains with sharp drop-offs on U.S. 190 in Eunice will be altered to make them more vehicle friendly, Bill Olivier, state Department of Transportation and Development district engineer administrator said.

The Rev. Lloyd Antoine returned to the Eunice Board of Aldermen in a bid to clear the way for the legal operation of golf carts on city streets.
Antoine asked for an ordinance to allow the operation of golf carts about a year ago with no results.
Sen. J.P. Morrell’s slate of bills to reform the juvenile justice system in Louisiana passed the House Committee on Criminal Justice Wednesday with no objections. The centerpiece of the bills, Senate Bill 324, would change the state’s policy of treating every 17- year-old as an adult.
