The Chitimacha 20, a marathon for canoes, kayaks and other paddle craft, will be held Saturday.
The race is 20 miles long from New Iberia City Park to the Chitimacha Tribal Reservation in Charenton.

A woman and six children fled a house on Jacob Road after 34-year-old Eugene Chambers Jr. began pouring gasoline on the house at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, St. Landry Parish Sheriff Maj. Eddie Thibodeaux said.
A prayer march will start at 6 p.m. today at the Eunice Municipal Complex, 300 S. 2nd St.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said the Care for Community Prayer March is an outgrowth of an April 11 meeting at City Hall to address problems with juveniles.
