Nursing staff at Acadian Medical Center were treated to breakfast Wednesday as part of National Nurses Week.

The St. Landry Parish School Board voted 8-3 to not renew the contract of Superintendent Edward Brown at meeting Thursday.
Brown, a 42-year veteran of the school system, was up for a contract decision in September. His contract ends Dec. 30.
Undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees will be conferred during the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Spring 2016 Commencement ceremonies on May 13, at the Cajundome and Convention Center.
Three companies that have made presentations about energy-saving plans to the St. Landry Parish School Board will be asked to return with brief presentations.
“Genealogy 101” set May 7
“Genealogy 101”, a workshop/round table, will be held Saturday, May 7 at 9:30 a.m., at the Lafayette Public Library, downtown location, 301 W. Congress St., Lafayette.
