Local teachers, firefighters and law enforcement officers were among those honored at the VFW Post 8971 hosts award banquet Monday night.
About 100 people attended the event, and those at the event also celebrated the post’s 65th birthday.
The Kiwanis Club of Eunice is sponsoring a mayoral debate at 6 p.m. today at the Liberty Theater.
The event is to open with Kenneth Pitre, moderator, delivering a welcome and reviewing the format, Kelsey Griffith, who is organizing the event for the club, said.
