Rice farmers hear optimistic outlook for 2016

Rice farmers attending the first three of a series of LSU AgCenter producer meetings came away with reasons for optimism this year, with the start of planting season only two months away.

With U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy present, the completion of Interstate 49 was touted as one of the state’s top infrastructure priorities at meeting hosted by One Acadiana, a nine-parish chamber of commerce.

Dardenne: State budget problems are severe

The state faces a $487 million shortfall in its current budget and there is no single solution to the problem, Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne said Friday at a meeting hosted by One Acadiana at the Picard Center.
