Researchers from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and scholars from universities such as Yale and Vanderbilt will gather Thursday to discuss the history and culture of the Acadians.
The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff.
Oct. 6
A Eunice Fire Department captain, Garrett Daville, pleaded guilty to simple battery, a misdemeanor, Monday and was given one year of active supervised probation with a $30 per month fee for the probation officer, KATC reports.

A proposed trial library for St. Landry Parish was rejected by the Police Jury on an 8-5 vote. Jurors will reconsider it should funds be available after all bridges are inspected and repaired.

Kenneth Janice has announced he is a candidate for the District 12 St. Landry Parish Council seat in the Oct. 24 election.
Janice said his a lifelong resident of the district.
