Eunice Rotary Zydeco Triathlon attracts record number of athletes

A record number of athletes participated in the 13th annual Eunice Rotary Zydeco Triathlon Saturday.
Donald Richard, one of the organizing Rotarians, said there were 167 pre-registrations and 15 registrations the day of the race.
“Previously we were around 130 to 140,” he said.

St. Landry Parish jobless rate rose to 8% in March

The St. Landry Parish unemployment rate rose to 8 percent in March, up from 7.8 percent in February and 5.7 percent in March 2014, according to not seasonally adjusted data released Tuesday by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz conducted a tour of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Complex Tuesday for the hundreds of visitors attending a grand opening ceremony.

Cleco nears completion of power restoration efforts after damaging storms impact system

Cleco is 99 percent complete with its restoration efforts after a band of destructive storms moved across its service territory yesterday. At the height of the storm, 28,868 of Cleco’s customers were without power.
