The city has increased its claim in a missing funds suit against a former Eunice permit clerk to $13,800.
Coastal Bridge Company sent notice Friday for the following road work as part of the St. Landry Parish Smooth Ride Home rural road improvement program:
- Duplechin Road from Hwy. 35 to Jesse B. Road – pre-construction work, 4-27 and 4-28.
Because SLEMCO is an electric cooperative, members are an integral part of the organization. At the annual meeting on June 6 at the Lafayette Cajundome, members will be asked to elect board members and to conduct official company business.
Judge Jimmy Genovese of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Lake Charles visited the Summit Group at the Rice Palace in Crowley on Saturday April 11. He reviewed the duties and responsibilities of a District Judge and then the duties and responsibilities of an Appellant Judge after which he opened the meeting up to questions and answers. He is planning to run for the Supreme Court in the next election. He was well received by the Summit Group and received a standing ovation by the members at the conclusion of the meeting. Attending were, seated from left, Judge Genovese, B.I. Moody, Kenny Privat; standing, Danny Wilson, Chief K.P. Gibson, Milo Nickel, Ted Carmichael, Ken Goss, Lee Lawrence, Mike Francis, Bryan Borill, Fred Reggie, Bill Broadhurst, Mayor Greg Jones, Scott Privat, Jay Suire and James “Jimbo” Petitjean.

St. Landry Parish President Bill Fontenot cited the ongoing Smooth Ride Home program as he told Eunice Kiwanis Club members he is seeking re-election this year.
