Mike Arnold, who was terminated from his job as Eunice fire chief after being accused of slapping a female volunteer firefighter in the buttocks area, was reinstated Wednesday night by the Eunice Fire and Police Civil Service Board.

Rice farmers in south Louisiana have been taking advantage of favorable weather to start their growing season with estimates of more than half the acreage planted.
