Rev. Billy Turner
The Rev. William “Billy” Turner, a Eunice News columnist and former pastor of the United Methodist Church in Eunice, died Wednesday. He was 63.
Turner’s death was reported on the Coushatta United Methodist Church website.
Donna Baltakis, director of Keep Eunice Beautiful, received a congratulatory email from Susan Russell, executive director of Keep Louisiana Beautiful, informing her that Eunice will receive the 2016 Circle of Excellence Award.
Some of the windows in Soileau’s collection of glassware are from an old Baptist church in Ville Platte that was torn down many years ago. He also has an old Courtableau tree fence post.

Annual Back to School program set Aug. 6
The Parents Outreach Club, Black Men Make a Difference and NAUW will sponsor its annual Back To School program at the Southeast Center on Saturday, Aug. 6 beginning at 10 a.m.
UL Lafayette’s Center for Louisiana Studies is hosting an intimate house concert on Thursday, Aug. 4, featuring Grammy-nominated all-female band, the Magnolia Sisters.
