A litter abatement program started on June 13 in Eunice using city jail trusties had collected 97 55-gallon bags of litter as of Monday, city officials report.

A 51-year-old Lafayette man told Eunice Police he was struck in the head with a pistol and beaten by three black males at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Then the three attackers, who may be juveniles, stole his 2008 Dodge Ram pickup, a police report stated.
