First Born of 2014

Acadian Medical Center’s First Baby of 2014 is Kennedy Rae Fontenot, daughter of Troy Fontenot and Ashtyn Lavergne of Pine Prairie. The baby girl, born on Jan. 2 at 4:28 p.m., weighed 5 pounds and 10 ounces, and is 17-3/4 inches in length. Kennedy’s arrival was an early one, as Ashtyn’s due date was Jan. 21. The delivery was a Ceaserean-section, with no complications, by her OB/gyn, Dr. Monty Heinen. The couple’s first-born child was a definite surprise, as Ashtyn said, “I was totally surprised that I would deliver early, and more surprised that Kennedy would be the First Baby of New Year.” Acadian Medical Center staff presented the couple and New Baby of 2014 with a large basket of baby products, supplies, and baby diapers. Dr. Kermen Beauchamp is Kennedy’s pediatrician.
