EUNICE ~ Visitation for Donald R. Godfrey “Chest’’ will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am with funeral services following at 11:00 am, both at New Zion Baptist Church, 251 Nimitz St., Eunice, LA. Rev. Darrel Reed will officiate at the services. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery in Eunice.
Donald R. Godfrey “Chest’’, age 54, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte, LA.
He was affiliated with Greater Golden Light Baptist Church. He was a jack of all trades. “Chest’’ enjoyed fishing, mechanical work, family gatherings and mostly playing with his dog Chico’’.
He is survived by his finance’, Ms. Vernie Wilson of Ville Platte; sons: Marsades Ceasar (Priscilla) of Rota, Spain, Phillip Hebert of Eunice, Marcus Wilson, and Matthew Wilson, both of Ville Platte, and Dexter Hebert of Mobile, AL; daughters: Jenny Hebert of Eunice, Romica McMillian (Carlos), and Andreanna Hebert (Ivory), both of Houston, TX, Andrea Anderson (Timothy) of Scott, Jessica Wilson, and Shannon Tuma, both of Opelousas; brother, Johnny Godfrey of Ville Platte; sister, Martha James (Jesse) of Eunice; and 27 grandchildren.
“Chest’’ was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal; grandparents and one brother.
Pallbearers will be: Paul Hebert, Phillip Hebert, Johnathan James, Daniel Godfrey, Jr., Thaddeus Godfrey, Marcus Wilson, Travis Godfrey and Donald Darby.
