Moise Johnson
THIBODAUX, LA ~ Moise Johnson, 94, a native of Eunice, LA and a resident of Thibodaux, LA, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016.
Visitation was held on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Thibodaux Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Visitation resumed on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Thibodaux Funeral Home from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. Religious services was held at 11:00 am at the funeral home followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
He is survived by daughter, Vernita “Punkin” Knight and husband Bert Knight: son, Moise David Johnson and wife Kathy Benoit Johnson; daughter, Virginia “Jenny” Fields; brother, Loicy Johnson and wife Jeanette; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law; Joyce Rouse.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Leander G. Johnson; parents, Gerald Johnson and Virginia Courville Johnson; brothers and sisters, Mathilde Richard, Wade Johnson, Dominic Johnson, Lula Richard, Ano Johnson, Gladys Doga, Edwin Johnson, Burleigh Johnson, Kermit Johnson; son-in-law, Emile Fields.
Past Commander of VFW Thibodaux Post 5097, a National Aide de’ Camp, member of 40 & 8 of the American Legion, served proudly in the United States Navy on the USS Caribou IX-114 in World War II in the Pacific Campaign and a retired Deputy with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.
