CHURCH POINT – Behind the pitching of senior Caleb Taylor, the Eunice High Bobcats improved their District 5-3A record to 3-0 Tuesday with a 2-1, nine-inning victory over the Church Point High Bears.

This time there was no trip to the state playoff semifinals on the line.
But it was still an important game for both the Blue Jays and Trojans as teams get ready for their respective district battles.
The Eunice Lady Cats tied Notre Dame for the girls title of the Bobcat Relays, while the Crowley Gents won the boys competition.
The Eunice High Lady Bobcats had a great season under first-year head coach Wayne Fontenot.
The Lady Cats finished as Co-District 5-3A champions with Ville Platte before the Lady Bulldogs won the tiebreaker to enter the playoffs as the district’s top team.
Competition usually brings out the best in an athlete.
At times, St. Edmund head track coach Michael Yachera has had to battle with other spring sports for his athletes.
