Joe Nagata was the head coach at Eunice High and St. Edmund for 22 seasons.
Friday night many of his former players will be recgonized at halftime of the third annual Joe Nagata Memorial jamboree held at Eunice High’s Bobcat Field.
BASILE – The Basile Bearcats (10-2, 6-1) advanced to the state quarterfinals for the third straight season last year. Hamilton Christian captured the District 4-1 title followed by East Beauregard, Elton, Oberlin, Merryville, Grand Lake and South Cameron.
The high school football regular season doesn’t begin until next Friday, but the jamborees will give the local fans a preview what they can expect from their respective teams.
The third annual Joe Nagata Memorial jamboree will be held on Friday at Eunice High’s Bobcat Field.
Another year of champions were crowned at the ninth annual Eunice High Alumni softball tournament.
Class of 2013 won the Rookie League championship with a 13-3 win over Class of 2011.
The Class of 2013 also won the title two years ago in their first year of competition.
OPELOUSAS – The room was filled with every color of parish public schools as the coaches from Eunice High, Beau Chene, Northwest, North Central, Opelousas and Port Barre joined for the annual St. Landry Parish jamboree kickoff supper.
