St. Landry Parish President W. K. Bill Fontenot, Jr. and the St. Landry Parish Council members will be sworn into office in a ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. Monday at the Delta Grand Theatre,120 S. Market St., Opelousas.
The public is invited. The event will last until noon.

After 23 years serving, first as a police juror then as a parish councilman, Gary Courville, 68, is leaving an elected job he first won in what he calls a surprising election.
The St. Landry Parish Council is to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Old City Market, 131 W. Bellevue St., Opelousas.
The Council also will hold a public hearing at 5:30 p.m. on an ordinance to set its meeting schedule for 2016.
A request for the St. Landry Parish Council to approve paying District 9 council member Wayne Ardoin’s $4,987 legal bill incurred while he defended himself against a suit filed by Parish President Bill Fontenot ignited a fiery response at a committee meeting Wednesday.
The St. Landry Parish Council's Public Works and Administrative Finance committees are to meet beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Old City Market, 131 W. Bellevue St., Opelousas. Agendas for the committee meetings are attached.
