Former Ville Platte Police officer, 106, dies in house fire

State Fire Marshal investigators continue to piece together clues as to what started a fire that claimed the life of one of Louisiana’s longest-living citizens Saturday morning.

Arrest made in Church Point murder/arson; prime suspect at large

A 22-year-old Church Point man has been charged in connection with a fire Sunday where a woman’s body was found.
A news release from the State Fire Marshal’s office identified the man arrested as Kantarise Tatty Jordan Lazaro, 22, of Church Point.

Fire marshal rules murder-suicide in deaths of 3 in house fire (Update)

A Eunice mother shot her 16- and 9-year-old daughters with a handgun, set their home on fire and then shot herself, State Fire Marshal H. “Butch” Browning Jr. said Monday at a news conference at the Eunice City Hall.
