Moody development program reaches five-year mark

The Leadership Development Program at the Moody Executive Institute is celebrating 5 years of developing south Louisiana business leaders. Since 2009, over one hundred participants have completed the four-month program that combines interactive group instruction, one-on-one executive coaching and direct participation from the participant’s supervisor.

“This is the only program of its kind that combines these three learning elements in this way,” stated Luke Sonnier, chief financial officer at Aerion, who started the program when he was controller at the company, and was since promoted. “The MEI program helped me take the next step in leadership.”

The program serves company executives and managers in diverse industries such as oil & gas, industrial services, manufacturing, banking, and health care, and is customized for every level of management: executive leader, senior leader, key leader and next-generation leader (family-owned businesses).

“The executive coaches and facilitators really understand the unique needs at each level of management,” added Florence Ziegler, vice president of human resources, communication and administration at Stone Energy. “We believe in investing in our leaders and the Moody Executive Institute is an important part of that investment for Stone Energy.”

The program was started by Dr. Joby John, dean of the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration and is facilitated by Excelerant, a professional leadership development firm based in Lafayette, Louisiana. Phyllis Arceneaux, Christina Burton Harper and Jill Cormier Meaux, all of Excelerant, facilitate the class sessions and are the executive coaches in the program.
