The VFW Post 8971, Auxiliary, DAV, and American Legion honored local law enforcement with an evening meal Wednesday at the Post Hall on U.S. 190 East.
The theme of the evening, “We Back The Badge,” recognized city police, sheriffs, and city marshals for their service and protection.
The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
July 29
Laura Bruno, 30, 100 block of Mudon Street, Duson. Aggravated battery.
Removal of a child from parental custody or control; limitations; cooperation of state agencies.
A. The court shall not remove a child from the custody of his caretakers unless his welfare cannot, in the opinion of the court, be adequately safeguarded without such removal.
Law enforcement agencies from Alexandria to Lafayette and Eunice to Opelousas are investigating fraudulent checks totaling up to $100,000 that were cashed at businesses for about a year.
