Railroad warning light knocked down

Two Acadiana Railway warnings lights at South East Street and East Maple Avenue were taken down sometime Friday probably by a truck. One of the lights was stolen after it was knocked down, said David Burleson, of Acadiana Railway. Trucks are not supposed to use the street, Mayor Scott Fontenot said. Etouffee Cook-off greeted with sunshine, cool breeze

If the crawfish etouffee was a little too spicy for you Sunday, there was instant relief in the form of 60-degree temperatures and a cool wind. 
Mayor Scott Fontenot was stirring etouffee as he remarked, “It is  great turnout. It ended up a beautiful day.”

Eunice police detectives search Eunice High students Wednesday morning

Eunice Police were out in force at Eunice High School after a note threatening violence was found in the school on Tuesday.
Principal Mitch Fontenot said, “A message written by someone on the bathroom wall, said something was happening at Eunice High Wednesday."

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
