Concussion treatment has evolved over the years, and Stephanie Aldret, D.O., with The Core Institute at Louisiana Orthopedic Specialists at the Acadian Medical Center, is working on a concussion research study with members of the Louisiana Ice Gators hockey team.

Eunice Superette will celebrate two openings Monday — the reopening of its original location on the Iota Highway and the soft opening of its new location on Laurel Avenue.

Arrest made in armed robberies

Law enforcement agencies are still on the hunt for a Crowley man who they want to question about armed robberies in Eunice and Ville Platte on Monday.

Fontenot loses ‘interim’ from mayor’s title

Since November Scott Fontenot has been operating as Eunice’s interim mayor.
With Saturday’s election win, Fontenot is settling into the job as mayor without interim attached to it.
“It seems like it took forever, but it got here quickly,” he said.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is monitoring a large band of showers and thunderstorms across southeast Texas this afternoon. Between half an inch and one inch has already fallen in this area. Southeast winds of 20 to 25 mph were gusting over 30 mph across our entire region.

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
