Gov. John Bel Edwards and Secretary of Louisiana Economic Development Don Pierson Jr. are scheduled as the keynote speakers at a first-of-its-kind in 10 years Statewide Economic Development Summit in Baton Rouge on April 18, One Acadiana announced Tuesday.

On Monday, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry unveiled six arrests, which took place earlier today, before announcing that he is making public corruption an important focus of the Department of Justice moving forward.

A body found Monday in a wooded area of Eunice is now believed to be a homicide, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
But investigators are still unable to place a name to the body, he said.
An autopsy was to be performed Tuesday.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
