The St. Landry Parish School Board is scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday to interview five candidates for superintendent. The meeting is at the Resource Center, 1013 Creswell Lane, Opelousas.

BATON ROUGE -- Evangeline Parish Sheriff Eddie Soileau can now begin working towards rebuilding his department since receiving approval from the Louisiana State Bond Commission on Thursday to borrow $1,000,000.

Sept. 19
Jerry J. Hebert, 54, 2100 block of Leboux Circle, Opelousas. Domestic abuse battery. Arrested by Leonville Police.
A 51-year-old Basile woman was injured when the car she was driving south on Bulah Street went through a hurricane fence and flew across a canal at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, according to a Eunice Police report. The woman, Eva Belton, was taken to Acadian Medical Center and transferred to Lafayette General, the report stated. The report said Belton avoided a pile of furniture on the side of the road before going through the fence in the 2004 Nissan Altima. Ryan Damien Janice, 42, 200 block of Chenault Road, Eunice. Stop sign and driving under suspension.
Matthew Sherman Deville, 31, 100 block of East Pine Street, Ville Platte. Criminal trespass.
Investigators of the State Fire Marshal’s Office are continuing to examine the facts surrounding the cause of a residential structure fire where a man’s body was recovered.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
