Flooding may impact November voter turnout

Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler says he is concerned that the massive flood destruction may cause the Nov. 8 general election voter turnout in the three hardest hit parishes – East Baton Rouge, Livingston and Ascension – to be lower than past years.

Online survey names strong communicator as top quality needed for superintendent

Online survey respondents selected “strong communicator” as the desired characteristic of an effective superintendent.
More than 75 percent of 1,373 responses picked a strong communicator in speaking, listening and writing.

$80M paid for flood food assistance

The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services issued nearly $80 million in disaster food assistance in 21 parishes impacted by flooding — with more than $48.9 million in Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits and more than $30.9 million in disaster-related benefits

Obituaries

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
