A man bicyclist trying to cross the tracks was struck and killed by a train in Basile on Tuesday morning
The incident happened shortly after 9 a.m., according to Police Chief Allen Ivory.
Allen Parish authorities will handle the followup investigation in the case of an Elton woman found dead on the banks of a pond on Swan Lake Lane west of Eunice on Tuesday.
