Mrs. Elina F. Miller of Eunice, who had not heard from her son John Bruce Miller for a long time, has received a letter saying he is a prisoner in Osaka, Japan and in good health.

Retired educator Rusty Moody has no regrets about deciding to go back to work -- as mayor of Eunice. And the feeling seems mutual with his constituents, as he drew no opposition to his candidacy for a second term.

The Mamou Police Department reported 10 recent bookings into the town jail. Arrested were the following persons:
•Lawrence Stagg, 51, 908 East St., Mamou, was charged December 15, with theft.
The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported 10 recent bookings into the parish jail.
Arrested were the following persons:
•Tommy Lynn Mayer, 65, 3698 Highway 167 North, Ville Platte, was charged December 26, with domestic abuse battery.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division agents cited four Louisiana residents for alleged migratory game bird violations on Monday (Dec. 29) in Acadia Parish.

Irice Ann Darbonne Lavergne passed away on Thursday November 17, 2016 at the age of 73.
Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
