Lady Jays trounce WCA

BELLEVUE – St. Edmund jumped back into the District 5-1A title hunt as the Lady Jays cruised to an 11-1 win at Westminster Christian Academy.
With the win, the Lady Jays improve to 10-11 overall and 2-1 in district play.

Lady Cats split district games

For the second week in a row, the Lady Cats shared wins in a District 5-3A doubleheader.
Eunice (6-7, 3-2) cruised to a 15-1 win over Northwest before falling 5-1 to Church Point.
The No. 27 Lady Cats travel to No. 28 Church Point next Tuesday.
Eunice exploded for six runs in the bottom of the first inning against Northwest, begun as Caroline Mire walked, advanced on a passed ball and scored as Destiny Edwards reached on an error.
Edwards touched home plate on a sacrifice by Mia Lejeune Rougeau.
Amber Arvie walked and then scored on consecutive passed balls as the Lady Cats led, 3-0.
Cassie Thomas walked and later scored home.
Lanie Fontenot reached on a fielder’s choice and Morgan Domingue advanced on an error and they both scored on wild pitches to push EHS ahead, 6-0.
Northwest scored in the top of the second when Karstin Thibodeaux walked and scored on a Lady Cat throwing error.
Eunice answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning to put the game out of reach, begun when Edwards walked, while Rougeau and Arvie both singled.
All three scored on passsed balls as the Lady Cats led, 9-1.
Fontenot walked and scored on a Lady Raider error to extend Eunice’s lead to nine runs.
The Lady Cats completed the mercy-rule win with five runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Edwards and Rougeau were both hit by pitches to begin the rally and the duo both scored on Northwest errors.
Arvie reached on an error and scored on a passed ball.
Cassie Thomas, Fontenot and Domingue all walked to load the bases with no outs.
Thomas and Fontenot both scored on wild pitches to end the romp.
Arvie earned the complete game win as she did not allow a hit, striking out six and walked three.

Church Point 5, EHS 1
Church Point pitcher Katlyn Higginbotham struck out 11 and allowed one run on three hits to help the Lady Bears grab a 5-1 win over the Eunice Lady Cats.
Church Point scored twice in the third inning as Morgan Guidry singled and scored on a triple by Taila Jones.
Jones scored on a single by Tobie Olivier as the Lady Bears pushed ahead, 2-0.
Church Point added two more runs in the top of the fifth, begun when Guidry singled and scored on a passed ball.
The Lady Bears moved ahead 4-0 when Jones reached on an error and later scored on a second EHS error.
Eunice closed the gap to 4-1 with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning as Morgan Domingue singled and scored on Destiny Edwards’s single.
The Lady Bears added an insurance run in the top of the seventh as Jones walked and later crossed home to seal the 5-1 win.
Amber Arvie suffered the loss for the Lady Cats as she struck out eight, walked three and allowed five runs on three hits.
Darrian Fontenot, Katlyn Joubert and Domingue all went 1-for-3 for the Lady Cats.
Guidry, Jones and Higginbotham collected hits for the Lady Bears.
Eunice travels to Church Point Tuesday and Port Barre Thursday as district action heats up.
