The Eunice Community Health Center has its finger on more than the pulse of its patients.
Yancy Fontenot, the center’s executive director, said the free clinic and pharmacy has seen an increase in patients since last summer.

St. Landry Parish’s unemployent rate dipped slightly to 7.8 percent in April from 7.9 percent in March, but remained above the 6.1 percent in April 2014, according to not seasonally adjusted data released Tuesday by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Brent Soileau died Friday at Lafayette General Hospital after being injured in a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. 190 Thursday.
Soileau, 51, was the driver of a motorcycle involved in the the wreck,
His passenger, Krystal McGinn, 38, of Iota was fatally injured in the wreck.
